Old World Society and the Columbian Exchange
The Columbian exchange was the worldwide redistribution of plants, animals, and diseases. This resulted in the contact between the Europeans and the Natives. The Columbian exchange was a positive impact on the old world, because there was a food and population surplus.
Population
With the population growing and more foods, animals, plants exchanging between the new and old world there was an increase and wealth. When Christopher Columbus discovered America and the trade routes led to the Columbian exchange. There was growth in population, food, animals, plants and wealth.
Wealth
Plantation complex’s started to grow creating a need for more and more need for workers. The old world started the slave trade from the new world in order to get more workers on their plantations. With the plantations and with more slaves working this created wealth for the old world.
