James Broski Per 2 Columbian Exchange = A Better World for Us All The discovery of the new world has opened up so many doors for us over here in Europe. We didn’t even know there was other land and besides Europe. Now we can explore the land for new products, or even move over there and start a whole new life. Now all of us citizens are focusing in on the New World. People are in a frenzy to get the new products in the New World. There has been word of native people living in the New World. They have different animals and food that we don’t have here. This should be a great place to trade our products and theirs. Some of the products that are in demand for are sugar, coffee and tobacco. With the new crops from the New World, we can start eating healthier. Corn and potatoes are the most important crops we have received. All of this trade will be a great way to make some money. The global economy has since now changed from this Columbian Exchange. Our government has changed drastically as well. Capitalism is different now with all of the merchants across the sea. Now us Europeans feel much more powerful now that we control slaves and trade routes to the New World. We can use the land over in the New World to make fields of crops and sell the goods we grow. We will need to have some sort of labor to tend the lands. Maybe the natives could help us out. Society has drastically changed because of the discovery of the New World. The population had decreased in Europe, Africa, and the New world. The demand for trade has sent a lot of us to the New World and slavery has affected both other countries greatly. Disease has also been an effect of the population decrease. The diseases started over here and traveled by ships to the New World. Because the natives of the New World aren't immune to certain diseases, they almost wiped out their entire population. The Columbian Exchange changed the Europeans' society drastically.
