Columbian Exchange: Worst Event in History
The Columbian Exchange: the worst thing to ever happen to us. Ever since the event our world has been torn apart. The Columbian Exchange, whom many white men refer to as one of the most helpful and life changing occurrences, was a time when the trading of animals, plants, cultures and even humans took place. We on the other hand find this to be one of the worst events to ever have happened to our people. The second white man set foot on our land it has been chaos. When the Europeans first came to our land many of our people became sick. Almost 90% of them died. Another item the white man brought with them was a religion called Christianity. In the beginning we believed these men were great gods so we graciously gave up our previous religion to please these ‘gods’. Of course they were not in any way gods. When the Europeans came they enslaved what was left of our people after the sickness killed them. We were forced to do labor for the men who had taken over OUR land. Some of our people were also sent away on ships to other faraway places. Some may argue that we gained things from the Columbian Exchange and yes it is true, we did gain things. We were shown the animal the white men call a horse along with new foods and tools. We lost much more than we gained. We lost the lives of thousands of people, we lost our religion, we lost our freedom, and our land.

The Columbian Exchange: the worst thing to ever happen to us. We on the other hand find this to be one of the worst events to ever have happened to our people. The second white man set foot on our land it has been chaos.
