Devastating Life of the New World due to the Columbine Exchange

The trade of animals, plants, cultural, products, and people from the old world to the new world; also known as Columbian exchange, may sound pleasing, but for the new world it wasn’t as great. The old world brought deadly diseases to the new world causing a dramatic decrease in population. With the lack of knowledge and health the new world was left to die on their own land.

“On some Caribbean islands the Native Americans population died out completely”. Due to Europeans exchange of diseases a whole cultural soon became extinct, leaving natives to pass on memories and stories of their ancestors.

The columbine exchange introduced the slave trade, forcing some natives to starve and kill themselves. As others didn’t know any better and had no choice but to work. The new world was threatened by the old world’s power and products. As a result the new world lost hope and their human value.

“Europeans also brought a number of domesticating animals to the new world, producing mixed results for the natives. As the animals destroyed their croplands”. What were they to do?

“ Long-term consequences of the Columbian exchange were mixed. As cultural, lands, vast areas, increased erosion of lands, and extinction of many life-forms”. The columbine exchange was like a hurricane that hit the new world leaving them defeated. Not only did people die but also their creations and ideas.
