"What was the impact of the Columbian Exchange on Society?" 15th and 16th centries pd2 Ashley Wiegel 2-13-11

In Europe they had a lot of good and bad impact on Society from the Columbian Exchange. The tradings of the goods and spices including the many diseases or also called "The great dying" and with Slavery it was known as the Columbian Exchange".

The Old World and the New World gained the exchange of goods that were transported all over. They got many things such as cattle, pigs and wheat. The Old World to the New World, they received chickens, sheep, donkeys, rice, oats, barley, rye, onions, garlic, lettuce, cabbage, bananas, sugar, wine grapes and so much more foods you could possibly think of.

The New World to the Old World got things like Turkey,llama,chinchilla, alpaca, Muscovy Duck, avacodo,chili peppers, cranberries,cotton, cocoa and much more. All of this was a big increase in food production and in population, increased in areas of land. It also led to the extinction of many life-forms. That's when the Columbian Exchange had many diseases they encountered with.

The spread of the diseases were from fevers, like smallpox, and the measles. It sent out a deadly message and wiped out a huge amount of people. Society became bad because there were so many people dying. The Old World to the New world had dieases like bubonic plague, chicken pox,cholera, common cold, influenza, scarlet fever, and yellow fever.

The New World to the Old World had dieases like Yaws and Syphilis. The diseases were mainly from Europe when they sailed by boat the rats carried those many deady diseases. The Columbian Exchange effected almost every society in the world. It was the biggest event also concerning agriculture and cultures. These are mainly the impacts society had on the Columbian Exchange.
